Do I need a German health insurance?

If you live in Germany, you have to take out health insurance – it is mandatory to have health insurance in Germany – either with a public or with a private health insurance company.
You can either get German health insurance or, if you are completely insured in your home country, you can have a German health insurance company confirm that you are exempt from German health insurance.

What are emergency telephone numbers in Germany that I should know about?

The emergency service and the fire department can be called under the telephone number 112. To contact the police, you need to call 110.
