“Anything you can do, I can do better” – with this bold statement professor Marco Lübbecke opened his TedTalk. In a short but descriptive talk he then explains why, in fact, he can do it better – thanks to mathematical optimization making best use of the future.
Dr. Marco Lübbecke has been professor and holder of the Chair of Operations Research at RWTH Aachen University since 2010. Prof. Marco Lübbecke studied mathematics at the TU Braunschweig, where he graduated in 1996. He received his doctorate in mathematics from the same university in 2001. In 2007 he habilitated in mathematics at the TU Berlin. In 2009/2010 Marco Lübbecke was guest professor for discrete optimization at the TU Darmstadt before he was appointed to Aachen. Marco Lübbecke’s research is both theoretical and application-oriented. He regards his work as very interdisciplinary and feels at home in surgical research, algorithmic discrete mathematics and theoretical computer science.
