Almut Balleer, born in 1979, has been Vice-Dean of the School of Business and Economics since April 2021 and Professor of Empirical Economic Research at RWTH Aachen University since September 2012. In 2009, she became Assistant Professor at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) at the University of Stockholm. She obtained her doctorate at the University of Bonn and attended the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona as part of the European Doctoral Program with a Marie Curie scholarship.
Her research interests are macroeconomics, applied econometrics, and labor economics. In her research, she has examined the role of technological progress and human capital in cyclical fluctuations in hours worked, employment and unemployment.
