Due to its unique location in the far west of Germany and in the centre of Europe, Aachen is not only a city steeped in history, but also a place where different cultures meet and interact on a daily basis. Aachen is located in one of Europe’s most innovative regions and connects Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. The cities of Cologne, Maastricht and Brussels are within easy reach, as are the major European capitals Paris, Luxembourg and London. Thus, a truly European perspective is omnipresent in Aachen.

RWTH Aachen Campus
Through close cooperation between universities, research institutions, companies and the city administration, Aachen has developed into one of the most important high-tech locations in Europe. The scientific competence available in Aachen has attracted renowned international companies and research institutions such as Ericsson, Ford, Philips, Takeda Pharma and Microsoft. However, Aachen is also a dynamic hub for start-ups, spin-offs and entrepreneurs dealing with new technologies. Recent examples are the StreetScooter, an electric delivery vehicle jointly developed with Deutsche Post DHL, and the e.Go Life, an affordable electric car. In addition, a Center for Entrepreneurship has been established to support students and researchers in their start-ups. The RWTH Aachen Campus therefore provides a unique platform for science and industry alike.
Student Life
With almost 260,000 inhabitants, Aachen has a lot to offer in terms of quality of life. The atmosphere of the city is visibly shaped by the more than 50,000 students at Aachen’s universities. For the large number of students, Aachen offers a lively culture with many restaurants, cafés, museums and clubs. The increasing number of students who decide to enroll at RWTH Aachen University testifies to the pleasant and charming place Aachen is for living.
"Aachen is a very good place to study: not too small and not too big, just right. It is full of students with many different cultural backgrounds."
