From regulation to sustainable innovation in industrial ecosystems through digital product passports - the case of the battery passport.

In line with EU regulations, the introduction of digital product passports - starting with battery passports - will soon be mandatory in a growing number of industries. These passports aim to drive environmental and social sustainability, for example by increasing transparency across supply and value chains. While significant efforts are being made by companies and industry associations to develop, implement as well as standardize the necessary technologies, innovation must go beyond this technology push.

To fully realize the sustainability and business potential, it's essential to integrate customer and user needs, embrace collaborative value creation through open innovation, and benefit all stakeholders by building ecosystem-wide partnerships and developing appropriate business models.
